CinemaVision and External player

Recommended Posts

Hello.
I ask for help.
I use to play the movies of an external player, and when I run the sequence in CinemaVision, I only lose the first cast and return back to the main screen. When using an internal player it works fine, but playback is not smooth.
I do not want to give up CinemaVision. Does anyone know how to help me?
Thanks.

Hey @ras96! Unfortunately, CinemaVision can't pass an entire sequence to an external player, but in theory if you set up the external player for video files Kodi will use it by default. The way Kodi works, you specify an external player for different file types (audio, video, etc.) and it forwards only your media file to the external player for playback. Now, I will tell you that I don't think every feature will work. You'll likely lose the benefit of Pause/Resume/Abort Actions (or any player events), and some other features. The loss of those features aren't something we can fix for external players because CinemaVision can't hook to them and monitor what's happening in the player like it can with Kodi's native VideoPlayer and DSPlayer which was rewritten slightly to support CinemaVision. If you want to give it a shot, here's the documentation for setting up an external player.

Well thank you. I will try it. While it is very complicated for me ...

Yah, that's why most people don't mess with external players. What features are you looking for? The new player introduced in Kodi 17 really bridged the gaps and updated the player to modern standards.

I use to play the android boxes ZIDOO X9S and KODI 17. But when I play a movie in mkv format with DTS, DTS HD or Dolby Atmos audio, so playback is not smooth and I use an external player. I did try to change some settings yesterday, but I'm not an expert and therefore it has no effect. It is a pity. Because CinemaVision is a perfect application and I wanted to use it and to pay for membership in the Red Carpet Club, but with an internal replayer I can not do it and I do not know how to fix it ... :-(

Well if they're Android boxes you should have much better performance out of Kodi 18 when that drops. They've made a ton of improvements for Android. I wouldn't recommend switching until the Kodi 18 beta at the very least. We won't start developing for Kodi 18 until the beta is released, so if you upgrade sooner there will be things that just won't work.
