Has anyone tried Cinemavision with Kodi 18.3?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has tried it - I went back to 18.0 and would like to avoid going back and forth with versions if it’s not necessary.

Thanks in advance!

I'll check and see if libreelec has an update to 18.3.  If so, I'll reenable CV and see what the results are.  I don't expect it to be any different, but you never know until you try I suppose.

I can answer it - as my stupid Shield had auto update enabled and put 18.3 on my system. No go whatsoever. At this point 18.0 is the only version I can get to work reliably.

Okay cool.  Sorry I hadn't tried yet.  Been busy with 4th of July stuff, but tonight is popcorn, movie night with the kids so I was going to test it.  I'll try it just for grins and giggles anyway.  I didn't uninstall CV, I just disabled it, so it will be quick test.

No biggie - I was kinda forced into it. I wouldn’t expect anything to be resolved until someone digs into the code. But since it works fine in 18.0 - I was hoping maybe they introduced a bug in 18.1 that is causing it and might be resolved. However, I think they must just be handling something differently.

So, I may be forced to use Leia if I want SMB to work with Windows 10 here (seeing it has no NFS server built-in and SMB1 is dangerous to run).  That means Cinemavision will stop working.  I see no updates for years here.  Is CinemaVision basically dead now?  There used to be "goal" meters, etc. for the next version and they're nowhere to be seen so I'm just assuming the worst, really.

I'm so glad I signed up for that lifetime membership now.... 😉

Shoot.  This totally slipped my mind.  Watched two movies this weekend too.  I use the classic forum skin and still see the goals.  Currently $4240.43 of 6K target for round 2.  It's not the first time something people have paid for was deprecated and it won't be the last.  It's the lifetime of the product/company not the lifetime of the person who payed.  Whether or not you got your money's worth could be argued and is subjective.  I haven't uninstalled CV but just disabled it.  I always have the hope that Ragnarok will return after dealing with whatever is going on in his personal life, but if not, it was fun while it lasted.

I don't really care about new features.  I'd just like it to run again so it's usable.  It apparently worked in 18.0 so it couldn't be something too big, I don't think.

Is Ragnarok the only one that worked on it?

hey any chance it could be skin specific ? a combination of 18 and the skins where using   no limits for example ?

I don't know.  I'd have to try it, but I'm using Xonfluence, not No Limits.  It came up, but I couldn't select anything (Cinemavision that is)

I had the same question a while back.  I received the below answer:

CV is Ragnarok's baby.  There are other people that help support the site or content, but Ragnarok is the person in charge of the development.  We just play a role in support.

I Wish I could say that we'll have a new version out soon.  There are people that support CV in various ways, even if life has gotten in the way.

Okay, remembered this tonight and, as expected, it's not working.  The action files function as my lights dim, etc, but just a black screen when it should be playing bumpers and main attraction.
