Sequence Naming Conventions in CV 1.1.1a12

Question

Short summary after 1 day testing:
All information here is related to CV 1.1.1a12 on Kodi 18.7 on a Android Mediaplayer Zidoo x20.
I could not find any significant issues up to now, no crashes, sequences can be created, edited and played from the sequence editor and from the Movie Menue.

The only thing i find a bit strange is how sequence names are displayed:
1) in the LOAD Window from the sequence editor
2) in the SELCT Window from the Que editor (when starting sequences from the Movie Menue
3) In the SEQUENCE NAME Window from the Sequence Editor.

Exampe:
I created one Sequence with just a curtain AVI before the feature (Theater Intro) and saved this as "curtain oly", then realized my typo, hit "save as" again and saved it as: curtain only.
This sequence is displayed as "curtain oly (curtain only) in 1) and 2). 3 Just displays "curtain oly"

Then i took the same sequence, added a THX Clip as Theater outro before the feature and safed it as "curtain+intro".
This sequence is displayed as "curtain oly (curtain+intro) in 1) and 2). 3 Just displays "curtain oly".......This cannot be intendedHuh. right?

This is realy confusing because when working in the sequence editor you never know what sequence you are actualy working on. I checked the file names in the sequence folder and they are all correct (like entered under "save as"). But it seems like 1) and 2) use some kind of "original seq name (new seq name)" logic.

To add some more detail to above mentioned Problem description: The strange behaviour with the "doubled sequence name" only occurrs:
- When you edit an existing sequence and safe it under a new name
or
- When you change the name of an existing sequence in a file browser and then load this sequence again.

...at least that is my experience so far. Can anybody else here confirm my problem description? Or am i the only one with this problem??

A picture is worth a thousand words.  I run 4 sequences, but they are not similarly named and I don't use the queue editor, but I'll try and check mine tonight and see what it looks like.

...ok. now i have made some pictures for better visualisation of the problem. Just to mention, this appears on all my devices:

- Android Mediaplayer Zidoo x20 with Kodi 18.7 and CV 1.1.1a12
- Win10x64 PC with Kodi 18.2 and CV 1.1.1a12
- Win8x64 HTPC with Kodi 18.2 and CV 1.1.1a12

Picture 1 displays the "real" name of the Sequences (File Manager).

1.JPG

Picture 2 displays what i see in the "Load" Window"

2.JPG

Picture 3 displays what the Title Bar of the sequence Editor displays after i loaded the Long Sequence. The Editor proofs that the correct sequence (with 3 comercials and 4 Trailers is loaded but the title bar dispalys someting else (Medium 2W+3T).

3.JPG

This is very confusing....

Hmm... I wonder if your parenthesis in your filenames are causing issues.  Could you try removing them and see how it works?

I’ve had the same exact issue too. I thought it was just me. So basically if I make a sequence, save it, then edit or modify it and save as a new name, it keeps the existing sequence name and puts the new name in parentheses. Example:

Sequence: Family Scope 5.1

New Sequence after I have modified it and saved it as a new file:

Family Scope 5.1 (Family Scope Atmos)

Hi OTA, you were right, the above mentioned problems only appear, when you use parenthesisi in the sequence names. Sequences withou can be safed, modified and safed again without these strange hickups.

At least to my experience...

@dyhometheaterguy: can you confirm? looks like you have your issues even without parentesis in the sequence names.

......AAAAArrrrgh!!! Sorry, now i need to stand corrected: The Problem is NOT coming from the parenthesis!

I created a new sequence based on the Edison Bumpers with 1 comercial and 1 trailer and safed it under Edison 1W+1T. Then modified it with 2 comercials and 3 trailers and safed the new sequence under Edison 2W+3T.

And this is what i get:

All.

My analysis would be that the problem of the strangely displayed sequence names comes exclusively from the MODIFICATION of existing sequences.

If you create a sequence, safe it as it is and never touch it again than everything is fine.

But as soon as you

- Modify an existing sequence or

- safe it under a new name

then the mess with the sequence names happens.

Can anybody from the developers comment on this? Would be nice if you could fix this bug in a future update. Thanks!

As there are two people reporting the same thing, I would think it's a bug.  I'm not sure who the developer currently is, but I did see @rdsp recently post on the forum.  I don't know if there's a bug list being kept somewhere.

Just to mention: The above described Problem is still there in 1.5.0:I Created a new Sequence, safed it as "MCU" wich led to the file MCU.cvseq.

Then i modified the sequence, safed it under a new name MCU 4k (File: MCU 4.cvseq).

But the load window displays this sequence as "MCU (MCU 4k)" and not like expected "MCU 4k".

....still pretty confusing.
