Truly random video bumpers/keep track of watched status - PLEASE ADD!!!

Recommended Posts

OK, my first feature request!

I think a huge benefit for me would be a truly random, unique CinemaVision experience every time.  I have 3 kids, so I get very little time to watch movies (and even less time to post feature requests on forums).  So, when I finally get to see a movie, I really enjoy this add-on!  What I don't enjoy is seeing the same video bumpers!

You could keep track of watched statuses in your database and only show the next unwatched one for each video module type.  Not sure how you'd do this with custom directories...You might have to store the directoryname also in the DB.  Once all vids have been seen once, they reset.  To keep it in sync, every content update would refresh these tables too.  It wouldn't change the watched statuses, but if for instance, a video file no longer exists, it'd be removed from that list or if a new one added, then add, etc.  I think it'd also benefit from a "reset all video bumper watched statuses" button under the config setting them all back to unwatched.

Great suggestion! We've added this to our list of improvements.
