compensating for "audio lock on delay"?

Question

I love the add on.  The only problem I have run into involves the delay my receiver has in locking onto the audio signal - it seems to take up to 3-5 seconds at times and cuts into the audio in the video bumpers.

Basically when a bumper starts I get video for a few seconds but no audio.

It is really noticeable when my "theater intro" bumper comes on, and when I tried using the MPAA ratings with audio I wasn't actually getting any audio except the last part of the last word.

I am wondering if there is a way to pause the video bumpers for just a few seconds before they start playback to let the receiver "lock on" to the audio before the video plays?

Hey there! There are some settings in Kodi that allow you to pause videos to allow your projector to catch up with refresh rate changes. Another thing you can do is use an Action File to disable refresh rate sync in Kodi at the very beginning of your Sequence, then enable refresh rate sync just before the Feature Module in your Sequence. We have some Action Files on the site here that do just that. You'll need to modify the IP address in the Action files to point to your Kodi HTPC, of course. Here's an example sequence to avoid confusion:

Thanks for the help, I will give that a try.

The delay is annoying with this receiver, it does it when it starts any new signal - always miss a little bit of the audio.  Unfortunately I won't be replacing it any time soon.

No problem at all! It's a universal problem, unfortunately. We're trying to figure out a way to mitigate that issue. During the second round of development, we'll be releasing development builds of CinemaVision that will (hopefully) eventually rectify the issue with projectors that most folks see.

No projector here... just a large DLP TV at the moment.

I'll give the suggestions a try tonight and see if it helps :)

I thought it was just my HK AVR that was doing it - good to know I'm not the only one.
