I can't save a sequence

Question

Hi there,

I'm facing issues with sequence saving.

I'v been watching the demo video, but when I hit save or save as, the system does not ask me for a directory where to save the sequence.

It only ask me for a name, but the sequence does not go anywhere, I can't find it load it, set it as default ...

Can someone help me with that ?

I also don't have the cinemavision icon in my librairy (skin Aeon nox redux), despite I have the launcher installed

Thanks.

Hi and thanks for your assistance.

Regarding the icon in the context menu, It works, I wasn't looking at the appropriate menu, but in the info context menu (I), probably because I'm used to cinema experience addon which works that way.

Regading the content path, I did set it, and all the folder are there. I checked the folder sequence : Nothing in there despite several attemps.

I'm not very familiar with the log issue, so just to be sure : shall I turn debug mode on, and make another attemps and past here the KODI.log file, is that it ?

If yes, then the log file is enclosed

kodi.log

No worries! Your skin has to have CinemaVision support (or you have to add it manually) to see a CinemaVision button in the Movie Information dialog. Some still don't have support. Appeal to the skinner who created your skin and get them to add it! :)

Is this the right content path?: smb://DISKSTATION/Sc\xe9ance/Cinema vision/

If not, make sure to set the correct path. If so, make sure of a few things:

  1. The path is added as a source in the Kodi File Manager. (important)
  2. Kodi has permissions to write files to the path.

To test these, do the following:

  1. Open the Kodi File Manager.
  2. Look for a source that points to your share, ensure the path exists.
    1. If you do not see a source listed that points to your share, add it by choosing Add source and browsing to the appropriate share.
  3. Open the source.
  4. Create a new folder called CinemaVision.
    1. Press C on the keyboard.
    2. Choose Make new folder.

If the folder isn't created, you should modify the permissions on the share to allow Kodi to write to the share, or set up authentication with the correct permissions.

Hey hey! Have you set your Content path in the CinemaVision add-on settings? If not, that's why you're seeing this issue. You need to do that, because it saves the Sequences in that directory under the Sequences sub directory. Where are you looking for the CinemaVision icon in your library? The Launcher just adds a CinemaVision item to your context menu for items in your library. Focus on an item in your library and hit C to bring up the context menu, and you should see CinemaVision there. If your skin supports CinemaVision, you'll also see a button in the Movie Information screen. Barring those being the issue, post up a log that I can review and we'll track down what's going on here. :)

Hi,

Thanks for those indications, by following those, now it works fine, meaning I can save my sequence and set it as default. That's great.

Another last sub question : is it normal that despite I "update the content" several time, I don't have anything in all the cinema vision folders that has been created by the addon ?

When I hit "update the content", it seems to load something but nothing goes to corresponding folder, and so when I launch my sequence, it launches the feature video only ...

I checked Kodi has the the right to write, and anyway it was able to create the cinemavision's folders, so I don't know where the issue can come from ...

Thanks again, your assistance is much appreciated & valuable

What you saw were the streaming trailers from iTunes and the trailers from your Kodi library being scraped into the CinemaVision database. CinemaVision doesn't (yet) auto download content. That's something we plan to add. Right now, you have to download whatever content you want from this site, or others, and drop it in the appropriate folder. Once you do that, the content update will pull all of those items into the database and you'll be all set. When you add new items or remove old ones, make sure you update content as well.

Hi

Ah OK that's clear now - Perfect.

I have another question : does the video sequence have to be stored on a local drive ?

I'm asking you this because, origially I used the cinema experience addon, with which I was used to stream the custom video sequence from my NAS.

Here when I do that, the display is just awfull, no sound, video not displayed correctly at all, in other words, not usable.

Then I tried to transfer all the content on my Openelec local drive : no issue anymore.

I assume that it should be possible to stream from a NAS, but I don't know where this issue can come from.

The same issue was faced with Cinema Experience addon when trying to stream from the NAS when using Libreelec distribution, with Openelec, no issue.

I add that I have absolutely no issue on windows, I didn't test Android yet. Maybe a lead...

I would to solve this as my target would be to have all my custom content on my NAS so that it can be shared within my several KODI devices (4 : 1 windows, 1 linux openelec, 2 android).

Thank again.

You can use any source that Kodi supports. That includes both local disk and network shares. Network shares do add point of failure, though. If your local network is slow, or fails, you will see issues with your experience. We currently have tons of folks using shares to store their content without issue. Some use Windows, some Android, and a good bit of them use an RPi as their HTPC, which is what I assume you have since you mentioned OpenELEC. Can you tell me a little about your hardware, and the version of OpenELEC you're running? One gotcha we've found (that for some reason only breaks things some of the time) happens if you don't add your NAS as a source in the Kodi File Manager. That breaks connections to the CinemaVision content path that you set in some cases. What you want shouldn't be an issue at all, which is the good news. :)

Set up your content directory on a network share, do a content update, try to play your Sequence and then post up a log so we can see what's up.

Hi,

My hardware is a NUC (core I3), and I was using Openelec 6.95 (beta), however, I've been facing the same issue with both Cinemavision & Cinema experience on this.

My networks looks OK, everything is wired, with good network performance, and even with my Android devices in Wifi,it works fine (I tested this afternoon), so I don't think this is the issue.

So, what I did, is that I swith back to Libreelec 7.0 which is stable release (more reliable than a beta),

I made a clean install from scratch, but (by following your advice) I didn't install any un official repo, and neither Cinema experience.

I took care of declaring my NAS as a source in the file manager.

Ran a couple of test this afternoon, looks to behave normally, including with content streaming.

I will keep on running tests in the following days, and you posted if changes.(with log).

Thanks

Guillaume.

Thanks for the information, Guillaume. Let us know how it goes! Right now, it sounds like it might be something half-baked in the OpenELEC beta, that will likely be fixed in the stable release.

Hi Ragnarok,

Run another set of testing, look OK and stable.

Still I'm not sure where this issue could come from because I also faced it with Libreelec (Stable release) previously.

I can't technically explain it, but there is two item set up that I have changed on my last fresh installation (compared to my last Openelec & Libreelec installs) :

_ Cinema Experience has not been installed : previously I was running both in order to compare/decide and that's when the issue began. (I tried also to point the two addon on different directories, without any succes).

_ I decided not to install the "unofficial repo TV Addon". I was used to use it for month without any issue, however, I've been sensibilized that this can of repo may install undesirable item that may "mess up" the whole thing.

I'm though quite sure this issue is not Cinema Vision related.

Also the original question (saving the sequence) has been adressed, I think the item can be kind of closed or green tick marked, can't it ?

Who is doing it ? and how (if it's supposed to be me).

Thanks

Guillaume

Hey hey! I'm not sure either. This is the first I've heard about Libreelec so I don't know too much about it. I can tell you that with betas of OpenELEC we've seen odd issues that always seem to be resolved in the stable release. We've seen some odd issues when CE and CV are side by side, and most of those are skin related. Some skinners detect for both to handle their button creation, which can mess things up if both add-ons are installed at once. CE also has some service stuff built in that can mess up the CV Sequence. That's why we're splitting our service stuff out into a separate add-on, so people can choose not to enable that functionality if it clashes with something else they have installed. Do you have a link to the "Unofficial Repo TV Addon" you mentioned? I'm not sure what that is. We might be able to track down what's going on, but I'd bet you're right. Some of those weird 3rd party add-ons aren't well written and will mess things up for you. Most of them break pretty often. I went ahead and marked the other question answered. Holler if you need anything!
