Adding "Queue Bluray" to the menu

Recommended Posts

I was wondering since Kodi can play blurays (unprotected ones), it would be nice to have Cinemavision play the trailers and bumpers and then play the movie from bluray. Is that possible?

Are you saying you want to queue up a physical disk, and jump right to the movie on it? If so, I know that currently, Kodi supports Media stubs, which allow you to scrape physical disks into your Kodi library. I don't think there's a way to jump directly into the movie, and I think it plays the disk in the same way that a normal player would, likely taking you to the disk menu. Media stub integration with CinemaVision isn't seamless, either. Media stubs have a prompt for inserting the correct media after you select the movie from your Kodi library, and don't seem to have a way to specify jumping to a specific chapter. Even then, it would depend on how the disk is set up. Some manufacturers force you to watch trailers and such from the disk. Media stubs are something that we have on our list of things to explore in the next release (to see about supporting them more seamlessly), but I'm not sure what the outcome of that will be. We might be stuck with the limitations of Kodi.

Thanks Ragnarok. You did guess right in what I was trying to do. And it did cross my mind whether asking it here would be appropriate since Kodi is the real work horse in what abilities can be accomplished. What I do know is that when I put a bluray movie in, the Black Glass Nova skin I have, allows me to play what title on the disk. Jumping right to the movie or special features and bypass the menus. Maybe all the skins do that, I haven't looked. It would be a cool feature though if Kodi can pull it off. That way my collection of over a thousand movies on disk can be recreated in theater style.

And by the way, I am soooo glad I stumbled across you guys and Cinemavision. It just took my home theater to a level far far above from what it was. I all of a sudden had to buy 30 feet of HDMI cable and another video card for the computer so I can have a designated HDMI out from the computer to the projector. Keep up the awesome work! :)

Excellent! That might be something we can look into adding in somehow now that we have an example of where we can find it working. Glad you love the add-on! Let us know if we can help at all. :D
