Naming convention for Trivia slide image files

Recommended Posts

Firstly, let me say Hi.  I'm new to the forum and the world of CinemaVision and I love the concept and all the great work done thus far.

My question relates to Trivia slides and how the application parses the file name...

I recently installed a whole host of the HD trivia packs and sofar I've noticed that when running a sequence in the Trivia section, some slides of the BTTF HD pack and the SupermanII HD pack only show the Answer slide and nothing else.  I tried to compare naming formats and the only thing I can think of is that both those packs have some files named with either a _QA_  or _Q&A_ within the name.

Is it possible that the application is searching the first instance of "_Q" or "_q" and thinking the file is a question slide when it might in fact be an answer slide?

I've since manually removed the "_QA" and "_Q&A" parts from my files but haven't had a chance to see if this has made a difference.

Just thought I'd mention it in case it was an issue for others and the programmer of this great application might be able to check it out.

Forgive my forum etiquette, you can probably tell I don't do this often.

Keep up the great work,
TheMix

BTW. I have the latest stable version installed... v1.0.11

Hello TheMix,

First off welcome to the site!  How do you have your folder structure in trivia? Where did you download the files from.   The question slides should have _q and answers have _a at the end preceeded by a number. If you have single slides that are quotes or facts you'll see them with just _q preceeded by a number.  I have seen it where if you have your question and answer slides along with single slides such as the quote slides in the same folder it can make them show incorrectly.

The best folder structure is under the trivia folder have a folder for each movie then in that folder place your q and a slides and then in a folder called stills in the same directory place all of your quotes,  film facts etc. Then once you do that update your content from the settings and try that.  Once you do this everything should load up properly for you.

Let me know if this still does not work and we can dive in deeper. Again welcome!

Thanks for the kind words! We work pretty hard on this stuff, and it's nice to hear that the work doesn't go unnoticed. :D Thank you for supporting the effort!

@DexDeadly is on the money. We also have a guide that will walk you through how trivia works, including some of the more advanced things you can currently do with it.

Thanks DexDeadly and Ragnarok.
I read the guide and will take your advice on the separate "stills" folder.
To answer your question DexDeadly... I downloaded the Trivia slides from the CinemaVision site.

Once again, thanks for the quick reply.  I'll implement those changes and continue testing.

Regards,
The Mix
