IMAX bumper for IMAX content?

Question

I only have a couple of IMAX movies.  Is it possible to have CV just run an IMAX bumper for those individual movies?  Is there something I can add the .nfo file of the movies or something for CV to pick up on to run that bumper module only on the couple of movies I have?

While that's not currently possible, we do plan to add filename tagging in the next round of development. :)

Okay.  I didn't think so, but thought I would double check.  The only other topic that was similar was the THX topic, but I understand THX is an equipment certification where IMAX is actually a resolution which may have been detectable.  Thanks Ragnarok.  There's a lot of cool stuff slated for the next round of development.

I think the easiest way to detect IMAX is going to be tagging, so that's probably what we'll do going forward.  IMAX resolutions can vary, but are usually 2K. The major differences between IMAX and normal films come from how the movie was shot, how the film was processed, and how it's being projected. A good example to show lack of a standard IMAX resolution is The Dark Knight Rises. About one-third of the movie was actually shot in IMAX using 70mm IMAX cameras, but two-thirds of the movie was shot using traditional 35mm cameras. As far as I know, no hollywood film has been shot entirely using IMAX cameras because they're heavy, loud, take forever to reload film, and have limited rigging options.

Fun fact, the 35mm film standard in hollywood has a horizontal digital resolution of 6,000 lines, which is 6K. IMAX 70mm has a horizontal resolution of 18,000 lines, which is 18K. We don't currently have technology in theaters that accurately throws those resolutions, thus the projection standard is 4K.

The most important difference is the size of the IMAX screen itself, and not necessarily the resolution. IMAX uses two seperate 2K projectors to create the picture, which they claim is equal to the current 4K theater standard, but it's technically not. It is brighter, but there are not more pixels. We'll try to make it easy either way. :)

Tagging as in a file name edit or tagging as in editing the .nfo file to include this information for CV to detect?  Just curious. ^_^
