Question

Hi there,

I am fairly new to all this and wondered if anyone had managed to set up any scripts etc for the Osram Lightify lighting system?

There seems to be quite a lot of info for the Philips Hue but I am struggling to control my Lightify system.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Al

Hey there! So I'm not sure we can do this with Actions as easily as I'd hoped, because it seems the authentication token used to manipulate your lights via their cloud API is only good for 15 minutes after it's requested and then expires. We don't currently have a way to pass a variable within Action Files, but that is something we'll be adding that in. What you might be able to do is use a python script that authenticates and then passes your authentication information, and call that python script with an Action File. I've attached the current (beta) documentation that should give you an idea of what you need to do.

I'll work on putting together some Action Files for you to test to make sure my theory is correct. I'll try to get them done this weekend. Hopefully that helps. :)

Hi Ragnarok,

Thank you so much for your reply!

I have been playing around with the system and I am aware of the 15 minute security token issue but I have also been playing around with another home automation system that can control the lights by only knowing the IP address of your Lightify gateway and I am trying to fathom out how it is doing this :S

I guess a bit more Python learning is in store for me, lol. Either that or get a Philips Hue hub and connect my Lightify lights to this which apparently you can now do.

There is no immense rush for this as we all have other things going on :)

Thanks again!
