CV sequence plays in Demo mode only

Question

Hello there,

I'm so excited to get CinemaVision up and running, and I'm sooo almost there I can taste it, but my sequence only plays in demo mode.  I've tried adding new movies, and playing it with movies already added to my library, but they wouldn't play.  I know the sequence is working, as I've seen it play in the demo mode, but getting it to play incorporated with a film only gives me an error message ("check log for more information").  I DID have it play yesterday, but it was only doing it for one film, and that wasn't all the time but randomly.  Any ideas?

Also, is there a feature that will run the sequence WITHOUT pulling down the menu to hit "Cinemavision"?  I'd like it do play my sequences automatically all the time, and only IF I choose to skip all that should I pull down the menu.

Thanks so much for all you do!

Hey there! Make sure that you've set the Content path in the CinemaVision settings. If Content path is not set, CinemaVision will always play in demo mode. :) Once you've set the Content path, make sure that you put all of your content into the appropriate directory in that path (that will make it a lot easier to configure things), and then Update content, also found in the CinemaVision settings. If you add content, you'll have to do a content update for CinemaVision to properly catalog the new media you've added. We'll be automating that in a future release. Right now, there's no way to override the default play action in Kodi, but that will be something we add in a future release. We're also going to add logic to the Sequence processor that will let you specify what sequence to run under what conditions. That will allow us to choose a Sequence that will run for Action movies, for example.

Also, you're welcome! Thanks for the support!

Hello, Ragnorak, and thanks for the response.

The content path is correctly set, as I was playing a movie from my library yesterday and it worked.  However, other films I put in the queue didn't, so it made me wonder if I hadn't set a limit to a certain rating ("G", for instance), but I tried that theory with other "G" rated films today, and nothing plays.  Sometimes the sequence won't even play when trying it in test mode -- all I get is a black screen.  Any additional ideas?

Thank you

Don't know if this helps, but here's the sequence file I've written.  Thank you

Hey, me again..

I'm a complete newbie to this, so I appreciate your tolerance, but I've managed to snap a capture of the log from the error message I get.  Thought it might help, too.  Thanks again

That's what we're here for! My money is on the iTunes scraper being the culprit here. Disable your Trailer Module and see if your Sequence works as expected. iTunes is broken (thanks Apple) currently, and shows only a black screen as CinemaVision loops through all of the available trailers until it finds one that works. Sometimes it finds one quickly, sometimes it takes a while. Our developer should be fixing that issue soon. If disabling the Trailer Module fixes the issue, you can enable the module and just remove the iTunes scraper to avoid it. You'll only get trailers for movies that exist in your library, but it's better than the whole thing breaking. :)

That CImageLoader error doesn't appear to be related to CinemaVision. It looks like it's trying to load an image for the weather add-on or skin. Let me know how it goes!

YES! That was it.  I remember reading something about iTunes being broken, but I honestly thought that was an old thread and it had been fixed.  Curiously enough, whilst fiddling with this module, I loaded Cinema Experience and it worked perfectly out of the box, and scrapped trailers that were rating and genre specific to the film I had in the queue.  I thought of leaving that, but I knew it wasn't customizable to the lighting action scripts from Hue that I'll want to add later.

Thank you so very much for the suggestion, and taking the time.  You mentioned removing the iTunes scraper.  Isn't there a scraper for YouTube for trailers?

Many thanks again

Yeah the way we're scraping iTunes trailers is different (and a bit faster and more reliable) than the way it's done in CE. That said, they did manage to break it with an update, so maybe it's not as reliable. :) We're exploring several different scrapers including a universal scraper for trailers. Hopefully all of that pans out. There's no YouTube trailer scraper at the moment. The closest we get is the Kodi Library scraper which simply plays the links to YouTube trailers that are associated with your library content. Kodi scrapes those links in automatically, so we're just using them. We will be building several alternatives to iTunes.
