Custom Ratings

Until you support more ratings, I would like to write a guide on getting any country's rating system to work.

What are the image and video file names that CV looks for? If this is known then creating your own rating bumpers and fooling CV into thinking they are known could work.

E.g. if CV is looking for the MPAA Restricted video or image and it is looking for, say, "R.png" then you could put any image you like in the folder and call it R.png. Then you rescan your library to the MPAA rating (if it is currently another country's rating system),  and Bob's your uncle.

We actually have a system set up that will allow you to create an XML file to "equate" your native ratings systems with MPAA ratings systems so that we could effectively temporarily support new ratings systems until they were officially included.  I'll see if I can find examples of that and build a guide for it. If you have ratings cards for your ratings system, post them up here and we'll try to get your ratings system added in this round of development!

Kodi supports AU classifications however I am not sure what format they use in the scraped metadata.

Excellent! Do you happen to have any examples of what the ratings cards look like in the theater? If not, I can probably whip something together that looks decent. I'd like to get it as close to the actual ratings cards you guys see as possible.

I tried googling to see an example but no luck. From memory there is just a black background and the rectangle in the middle. If you go all black starting at the edge of the curved rectangle, you should be on the money. There is obviously some wording above it along the lines of "This film has been rated..." but honestly if you just flash the symbol you will cover the AU bases.

Oh and apart from hardcore porn, nothing has been rated X in Australia. We only just got R18+ allowed on video games because we are so censored!

No worries, let me know how this looks:

I took a look at the government site and took the gradient from there. Let me know what should change, like if I should do flat black instead of a gradient, or use a different font or location for "This film has been rated".

Mate! Looks top notch, I like the gradient.

Only thing I would change is to put the government logo centred and under the rating as I think that's how it is in cinema. However, it does look pretty good in the top left so either would be fine.

Was this ever added to CinemaVision? I've been looking for a way to add OFLC ratings to CinemaVision but I haven't figured out how to enable them
