The following is from @Ragnarok regarding the current status of CinemaVision. The latest and greatest stable version is 1.1.1 currently. It took us a while to get that approved for the official repository. I'll be working on bringing our new developer up to speed over the next month or so, and then we can start with new features and completing the features we have in the current pipeline. I'm hopeful and excited that @0raid is taking the reigns and will be able to give us fresh new perspectives and integrations. Our original developer, @ruuk, will still help with direction and steering but will be stepping back from an active development role to focus more on his job and family. Now for some more good news! The website is back online and snappier than ever. We've successfully migrated to our new server, and while I've got a few weird things going on that I need to address with our CMS, it should be fully functional. If you have any trouble, please let me know. And for the record: This project was started, and is maintained, with the best intentions. The subscriptions you all purchase are used to ensure this project is sustainable and allows us to purchase new templates for the content we distribute. I know some folks snapped to a decision that the project was dead, and that we grabbed the cash and split. That's on me, honestly. A lack of communication while I dealt with personal and professional changes in my life led to those conclusions. I know that it's been dormant for about a year, but I am working on planning out a new wave of content and updating our current content as well. I've got some new ideas that I'll be workshopping with the team and our new developer. In the interest of transparency, here's where we stand: With your support, we've been able to keep CinemaVisions' expenses fully paid which allows us to continue to deliver all of the content on the website, and give folks a place to collaborate on their own content and share it with the community. We've done our best to keep expenses low, and save as much of your donations and subscriptions as possible. We can keep the lights on for quite a while, and as long as the project is able to pay for itself, you don't have to worry about it disappearing. We really appreciate the continued support as we ramp up the new development cycle. This really is a team effort.

Here are some updates: We have completely translated CV to Python3 including some dependencies that we couldn't find updated anywhere. That took longer than expected. At this point, it's still not working because of changes to other scripts CV uses. We are trying the updated versions and have to change the code to work nicely with these. Youtube trailers won't work because the script hasn't been maintained or updated for a long time. I will keep this thread updated as soon as I have any more news.

While I cannot promise anything I am trying to get a developer to work with me to change CV to python 3. If this happens it will take a couple of months or more depending on our free time. I am aware that CV may not work properly after 18.7 but if we're to update CV to Kodi 19 it may be easier to work on compatibility from that version on therefore anyone using CV right now may want to stay away from these newer versions. On a last note, we'll be working on maintaining compatibility only so people can keep using it, fixing bugs is secondary and adding features is not planned. We're doing this because we love and use this addon too.

I love the VUE bumpers, but bemoan the lack of 5.1 or better sources... so.. I made a couple I tried as best as I could to replicate the speaker-spread in the cinema versions. Vue-Sizzle-AC3.mp4 Vue-Phones-AC3.mp4

Getting the app working in 19 is the priority but I am happy people are bringing up the issues so they can fixed at a later date. Does Kodi now detect 3D audio formats automatically or does it rely on tags for that still?

Aha! I may have found the actual bug! - well I donr another script... same error... but I did think (being I work in IT) that perhaps the PATH is too long? so yes my script had a longer name than the others.... I shortened it and guess what? bug went away and it played.
  8. 2 points
Same again. No different, it is very odd! I'll try another sequence incase ive done something. Fixed it now - unsure what it was but i redone the sequence by 'cloning' the default.... load default into editor change its name save as using a different name edit said file with content. save. the only thing I did differently was previously I made a new file.... I can live with the quirk.

So ultimately this is what I've been able to grab from the Wayback Machine from Demo World: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v65tOokgNaeRS0dDAXDZBbXtjpjEzqYEdxWWWtrQYUo/edit?usp=sharing Overall it has the entire list of download links posted earlier in this thread and what is hilighted in green is what I've been able to grab direct from Demo World's archives. Now there are a couple other sources that have duplicated or may have even more than what DW had. First off is obviously CinemaVision's own collection of files. There's also DemoLandia and TheDigitalTheater. These are the main sites I've focused on and also grabbed copies of their content. The naming is making it a bit difficult to compare to DW so I am considering just leading off with the collection of files from each individual site and post them as-is. That said the initial posting is likely going to be in torrent form to make it easy to get out there. I need to see if there's a way I can post this to the Internet Archive proper and not have it buried behind Wayback Machine archives.

I've used a Shield with CV for the past few years, and it's handled everything I've thrown at it. Web calls definitely work--I use SmartThings as well to control lights in my sequences.

I found another script in thi forum wich turns on and off the refresh frequency feature in Kodi. I want to give it a try, because the lag problem is very much relates to frequency change. If I change the commands in that script, I think I could be able to control turning the 3D feature on and off.

Working with a12 on 18.9 thanks for the file link! Anyone know if I can have it run echo routines?

I think you're splitting hairs here and getting stuck on semantics. Nobody is blaming the Kodi team for upgrading to Python3.

After reviewing the log from another poster, it would appear it marks the images as watched.
  15. 1 point
After checking the logs on a hunch I switched the color mode of the Amazon Fire TV to CMYK mode. Have now run the test sequence. All slides perfect, all intros and trailers run perfectly but bombs out at the feature start.
  16. 1 point
are you sure all the slides are the same resolution ? if kodi is resizing it can cause that ..

@bullwinkl I am happy to report that CV is working now! Albeit my old sequences aren't which is weird. The main culprit was the Cinemavision build. The one you shared in the link above is the proper one.

Using CinemaVision Pastebin Log Uploader Close and reopen Kodi Open the CinemaVision Add-on Configuration Scroll down to Advanced Enable Debug logging Reproduce the issue you're having, or the error you're receiving After the error occurs, open the CinemaVision Add-on Configuration Scroll down to Advanced Select Paste my kodi.log to pastebin Input your Pastebin account information if you have one (this makes it easy to keep track of your pasted logs) Paste the website address of your log along with a detailed description of your issue and steps to recreate it.

I'm not a developer but I do dabble and I was able to install Kodi 19 (Matrix) stable in an ubuntu virtual machine and change some things to see Cinemavision boot. I was using the 1.1.1 version that I have running on my Kodi 18.0 machines as the base since I don't have any with the newer 1.1.1a10-a12. By changing some of the requirements, updating import paths, and changing some lines regarding decode("utf-8"), and updating the included_packages\hachoir to 3.1.3, it loaded and I was able to play a basic sequence that came with Cinemavision. It is far from being a successful upgrade and I don't know what else I broke getting it to run but there is hope! and it doesn't seem that impossible! I did this during a weekend so the real developers should be able to get something together quicker since they already understand the intricacies of their own coding and development better than I do!

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! i have the same issue. i have been troubleshooting for about 5 hours trying to figure out what it is. i can only have a 6 character name. if i have a 7th character, it crashes with the same stack trace that you posted. i also have to do the save / change dance name thing. but the default script.cinemavision.default2D name works fine. the name / file name save is definitely wonky. the names showing in the app don't always match the names in the folder when looking at it in explorer. i'm gonna poke around in it tomorrow (today) after i wake up (i'm in texas) LOL. i'm a dev too! this is my first python project

Thanks for the reply. I finally managed to get it working, I still have some ironing out to do, but decided whilst I am doing it I will document it all. I may need some further assistance when it comes to some of the more advanced features, but do feel its worth documenting. If someone would like to contact me regarding the documentation please do, I intend to at minimum post on the kodi wiki, however if you have any preferences please do contact me. Thanks again

First, make sure you have the below version installed. https://cinemavision.tv/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=2857 When you run the content update, it will automatically create the file structures for you. You can then populate what you want in each directory, then create your sequences.
  24. 1 point
If you don't mind can you be a little more specific of what you did and how you got it working again because I am still having issues.
  25. 1 point
Well... after some investigation my issues were solved. It was a combination of AAC 5.1 encoded movies, and a forgotten “content update” in my part. Please ignore! (or read and learn ;)) thanks
  26. 1 point
Many thx. The scanner dose not work on my side. Maybe because of I'm usinng an AD. I fixed this issue no by manuell editing the config and set the path to my server. Interessting is why CV is not using the normal Kodi interface (like Zero Conf) to determine the server in the network. Cheers and a happy new year Marco

...to answer my own Question: Rapier needs a "atmos" in the file name do tag the Movie correctly.
  29. 1 point
Correct. This is how I have mine setup. My lights are 100%, start the sequence and they dim to 10% during the trailers, etc, then turn off when movie starts. They also turn back on to 10% when the movie is paused, then once movie is done and the sequence ends, they come back up to 100%. The action module won't be the issue, the integration of the API is what's going to take the most effort. Here's a video of my action sequence with lighting.
  30. 1 point
That, I'm not sure about. For my newer trailers that I'm grabbing myself, I keep those in a separate folder and using the directory option as well. For the trailers I keep, I use the trailers option with those, using the kodi db as the primary source and I make sure I'm naming them properly. I also make sure I have the trailers folder set in Kodi to be a video source for movies so that it gets scanned into the kodi db. I'm not certain, but I think if you do it that way, CV can look at metadata for the trailer to determine genre/rating etc for matching movie rating and genre if you use those options. Seems to work for me. I'm also pretty sure CV will play trailers in the kodi db that aren't in that folder, but I've never tried it, since I don't keep movies in separate folders. Naming scheme for trailers is Movie Title (year)-trailer.ext Tombstone (1993)-Trailer.mp4 Tommy Boy (1995)-Trailer.mp4 No spaces on either side of the hyphen. Hope this is the info you need. I don't use conditional sequences or anything so I'm not a power user like some around here are, but I love the program so I help as much as I can.

You don't need another PC to create material...this site has a ton of material available for download. Your best bet is to start here: https://cinemavision.tv/guides Just follow the walkthroughs and you'll get the hang of it--I've been using it on my Shields for years now and it works great!

I love this addon...been using it for years, and I don't want to see it go away--do we need more money to continue development for Kodi 19? I'm willing to re-up; I'm sure others are as well!
  34. 1 point
Well, If they are moving to Python 3 I'd suspect they'd have to rewrite the whole thing, so I wouldn't expect somebody like @rdsp to bail us out with a simple change in code next time around. I'm no Python programmer though, so I have no clue if it's backwards compatible or if it's simple to convert. It's really a shame. CV is such a powerful plugin, not only for the theater experience, but mostly for the action modules. Maybe there's hope yet? https://docs.python.org/2/library/2to3.html

I can upload PLS files and change it to you as the author. Feel free to PM the file(s) to me and I'll upload it. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to fix the permission issues.
  37. 1 point
you can make your own PLS file How to Make a PLS File for a Stream PLS files are audio metafiles that contain information about a playlist of music files or the URL of a streaming server. These text files can be created in a text editor, like Windows Notepad, then uploaded to a server. If you create a link to the PLS file on your website, then click the link from within a web browser, the browser will launch your default MP3 player and connect it to the streaming audio. Step 1 Open Notepad. Type "[playlist]" and press "Enter." Step 2 Type "Number of entries=1" and press "Enter." Type "File1=http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx" with "x" being the IP address of your server and the port number of the stream. For example, if you are creating a PLS file for a Shoutcast server at, type "File1=" if your Shoutcast server is running on the default port. Press "Enter." Note that all commands should be typed without the quotation marks. Step 3 Type "Title1=A Name For Your Stream." For example, if your stream is called Smooth Jazz Radio, type "Title1=Smooth Jazz Radio." This title appears in the player while playing the stream. Press "Enter." Step 4 Type "Length1=-1." The Length function tells the MP3 player how long to play before switching to the next entry. A length of "-1" means that the player should ignore the Length function and play till the stream ends. Press "Enter." Step 5 Type "Version=2" to designate the file as a Version 2 PLS file. Click "File," then "Save" and save the file with a name of your choosing. If you are streaming at multiple bitrates or in multiple formats, you should name the PLS file based on the format and bitrate. For example, a 64K bitrate MP3 stream might be called "64kMP3.pls." Step 6 Upload the file to your website and create a link to the file. If your host is smoothjazzradio.com, for example, and you upload the file to the root directory of the website, the link would be "http://www.smoothjazzradio/64kMP3.pls."

So I figured out the problem. I was setting up to generate a debug log, and CV worked fine. I turned debug logging off in KODI settings and it would not work as before, blank screen. Then I remembered all the same behavior we discussed in another thread when KODI 17.1 came out, which broke CV. It was after version 1.1.1a12 was posted in that thread did it start working for me. I had rebuilt my KODI box a few months back and I installed CV from the KODI repo thinking it was the latest and greatest. Fortunately I had a backup of 1.1.1a12, so I uninstalled the repo version and installed my backup. Vola! It works fine. I really think what is in the KODI repo is the wrong version, as it will not work for me.

I've never reported it, but it is the same way with mine. It's a bit of an inconvenience--you have to add the actions folder a s a source in kodi to be able to browse to it. I just assumed that was intended action for some reason. I'd love to have a fix so I can get rid of that as a separate file source.

Not sure if the permissions will let you download it, but is this similar to what you are looking for?

Thought I'd add this as a tip here as I found a supporting github repo recently and was able to get some nice python scripts going. --- So I use mainly Sengled brand smart bulbs in my house including their own Zigbee based hub as they have historically been cheap and easy to acquire from a number of retailers including Amazon as well as local brick-and-mortars like Microcenter and Home Depot in my neck of the woods. However using their own hub means there's no stock 'integration' or API options outside of their own app or Alexa/Google Home. Found a GitHub repo that provides a very clean 'API' of sorts for Sengled products that goes through their web servers and doesn't require migrating to a third party hub. https://github.com/vroy/python-sengled-client Here's a quick and dirty sample python script I wrote using this. It is largely using the examples right on the github page. REALLY easy to read and understand. import sengled api = sengled.api( # The username/password that you used to create your mobile account in # the Sengled Home app. username="***", password="***", # Optional path to persist the session across multiple process # starts and reduce the number of logins. #session_path="~/sengled.pickle", # Prints details of the api request/responses when True, defaults to false. debug=True ) api.find_by_id("ABCDEF1234567890") \ .on() \ .set_brightness(100) \ .set_brightness(95) \ .set_brightness(90) \ .set_brightness(85) \ .set_brightness(80) \ .set_brightness(75) \ .set_brightness(70) \ .set_brightness(65) \ .set_brightness(60) \ .set_brightness(55) \ .set_brightness(50) \ .set_brightness(45) \ .set_brightness(40) \ .set_brightness(35) \ .set_brightness(30) \ .set_brightness(25) \ .set_brightness(20) \ .set_brightness(15) \ .set_brightness(10) \ .set_brightness(5) \ .set_brightness(4) \ .set_brightness(3) \ .set_brightness(1) Which basically just makes sure the selected bulbs/groups are brought up to 100% and slowly dims down to 1%. It also supports their smart plugs and color changing bulbs in addition to the barebones single color/temp dimmable bulbs.

I'll go ahead and create a second torrent then just for CV stuff in that case. Makes it easier and if CV admins object I can just take it down on its own. Should be able to post that up here within the hour as well. --- Ok. So just going over again what I have. Here's a sheet of what all downloads were available from DemoWorld. Highlighted green files are what I was able to grab from The Wayback Machine and are included in the relevant torrent linked below. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v65tOokgNaeRS0dDAXDZBbXtjpjEzqYEdxWWWtrQYUo/edit?usp=sharing CV video collection: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:UN7UNLNYOVPAH344PZYPQVYGTQEXBNLZ&dn=CinemaVision&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fsantost12.xyz%3A6969%2Fannounce DemoWorld/DemoLandia/TheDigitalTheater collection: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:DPTM5Z6X5BJYAMGMZF4KRN3EHPLG3MTH&dn=HT_Demo_Videos&tr=udp%3A%2F%2Fsantost12.xyz%3A6969%2Fannounce I'll leave these up and seed as long as I can and these will remain on my NAS for the foreseeable future. If any admins/mods have any issues with this, please let me know and I'll remove/make changes as requested. The intent is merely to have reasonable backup copies and access to this stuff especially after the loss of DemoWorld.

Hi OTA, you were right, the above mentioned problems only appear, when you use parenthesisi in the sequence names. Sequences withou can be safed, modified and safed again without these strange hickups. At least to my experience... @dyhometheaterguy: can you confirm? looks like you have your issues even without parentesis in the sequence names.
  47. 1 point
Good news: Looks like the Wayback Machine has archived many of the logo/poster downloads. These were ones that seemed like they'd be the hardest to track down. Working on them slowly. The downloads seem to be intermittent but some work after a few retries. Once I have things a bit better organized I'll probably post a sheet here comparing what should have been on DW per the file list linked above and what I've been able to acquire.
  48. 1 point
It's a bit confusing. a12 should be the latest. I hope when we get another developer they just up it to 1.2 or something to mitigate this issue. Try the below one and see if it works. https://cinemavision.tv/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=2857

I think I'm good to go on my situation, happy for this issue to be marked as solved. Thanks OTA for your assistance.
